MORAL OF THE STORY
(Lebanon)
A convoy of three Mercedes cars and a pick-up
truck fleeing the retaliations of the Israeli
backed militia, which they have just ambushed,
bombs down the hill towards a U.N.
roadblock in the narrow chicane
of a sun trapped checkpoint
manned by Irish peacekeepers.
Full to the teeth with Hezbollah
Resistance, fighters armed with rocket
propelled grenades and automatic rifles,
and not having time to stop in the stifling
heat of day, the convoy opens up
spraying the checkpoint with bullets
and shrapnel.
And the moral of the story?
Peacekeepers in Lebanon may not always
hold the centre ground but they are always
caught in the middle!

Michael J Whelen that pen you have is better than any (BULLET) ok very well done keep it going good luck.
Mick, if they were so armed to the teeth who is arming them and why. Millions and millions are suffering because of the hidden support to Militias. The Iranians, Israelites, Turkish, and the oil barons of Saudi fight their wars NIMBI fashion non in my back yard. There is no analysis of who is behind them . These old Empires and the new ones of USA all have gains on the blood of these innocent people and the soldiers that go to give witness to what is going on. these soldiers are going for economic reasons as well. they are from a low paid economy and need to supplement their earnings by giving witness to the genocide of the wealthier . the real question is He hey hey hey Whats going on ! not what you see as going on. Behind it all what is going on and the power play of elates Mervyn
Agreed Mervynn, there’s a much bigger picture and I think it’s much greater than I or any other normal concerned person can possibly fathom, all I can do I think is to tell it the way my eyes see it. Thanks for the comments Mervynn…..Michael.
Great message in this poem Mike. Hope you are going well.
